Current process description
Intermediate course that teaches how to protect and secure network infrastructures through the configuration of Cisco devices, perimeter security strategies, VPNs, firewalls, IPS, AAA, and monitoring. The course has a practical focus and includes lab work with Packet Tracer and NetLab+.
Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Implement secure access protocols on devices (SSH, SNMPv3)
- Configure robust authentication (AAA) using RADIUS/TACACS+
- Design and apply ACLs to control inbound and outbound traffic
- Configure firewalls (ZPF, ASA) and establish zone-based control policies
- Detect and block threats using IPS
- Establish IPSec site-to-site VPNs for secure connections
- Harden network devices and set up monitoring and logging
- Use Packet Tracer and NetLab+ to simulate secure networks following industry standards
Prerequisites
No prior knowledge is strictly required, but it is highly recommended that the candidate has:
- A basic networking course (CCNA or Introduction to Networks)
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and Cisco CLI
- Familiarity with Packet Tracer or similar environments
